John E. Martin
Chairman
JOHN MARTIN is widely respected as an innovator
and change leader for the entire
food service industry. Martin joined
the PepsiCo family as President of
La Petite Boulangerie in 1983. In
August of the same year, he
was named President of Taco Bell.
As President, then Chairman and CEO,
Martin grew Taco Bell Corp. from
a system of 1,500 restaurants and
less than $600 million in sales in
1982 to over 25,000 feeding locations worldwide and
$5 billion in sales. In 1996, after leading Taco Bell
for more than 13 years, Martin went on to become Chairman
and CEO of PepsiCo Casual Dining and was responsible
for overseeing the sale of their three casual dining
concepts: Chevy’s Mexican Restaurants, California
Pizza Kitchen, and East Side Marios. Mr. Martin’s
vision was to develop a portfolio of signature, upscale
casual dining restaurants in Southern California.
